Why did I choose Architecture: I've always wanted to be a doctor or an architect. When I wasn't able to achieve the score for BS Nursing at UST, I wholeheartedly accepted that I was for Architecture.
About my college education: For me fun, not just because of the School but also by the kind of people enrolled with me. My study was continuously interesting and the faculty and the programme made all that possible.
My current job: Currently I work as freelance construction manager and designer.
Construction manager makes thing happen at the site, from studying the timeline of the construction project until turning over the building to the owner.
Designer basically puts you on putting into paper your client's needs and wants and being the technical person to discuss this with other trades such as engineers and interior designers.
Am I using what I learned in college: Absolutely, though actual work differs a lot from what they teach at school, because of practicing professors sharing and teaching just that, it has prepared me pretty much. Construction details and situations helped a lot.
How long did it take to find a job: I was actually hired for a job a month before I graduated.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: In terms of employment opportunities yes I would recommend. Being an architect does not entail being just a designer, you may become a project manager and a designer at the same time.
As for the salary level, if you're just starting you have to really work hard up the ladder. Gain experience and have contacts as much as possible (this actually also goes for other courses), then you'll be able to have that certain level where the salary matches the position.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: You really do not have to me good on drawing since there are subjects that will teach you just that. Math, not as extensive as engineering though aspiring must understand how other trades work basically. Proud to be jack of all trades, you have to know everything, from psychology of people in a mall to work flow and accesses in a high security facility like airports and jails.
Also, exposure from school activities gives you an advantage on landing jobs and performing a step ahead than your colleagues helps you stand out

Why did I choose Architecture: I liked to design houses and landscaping. Architecture is the course for this.
About my college education: In the course of Architecture, the student needs creativity, curiosity, and courage. And not anyone can be a good architect without the proper training by Architects who have the experience already. The structural designs that we are required to do helped me in passing the Board exam for architecture.
There were some who failed in the first two years of the 5-year course but there was very few failures in the 3rd and 4th years. On the fifth year, no one failed.
Before taking the Board, all Architecture students who graduate are required to have a 2-year training in an architectural firm. After completion of the 2-year period, we are allowed to take the Board.
My current job: My present work is to be one of the Architects in a firm in Manila with SM and other rich people as clients. I make the designs and submit the completed design to my direct superior for approval. Once approved I have to make sure that it is implemented according to the approved plan.
How long did it take to find a job: After graduation, I still have to comply with the 2-year actual work with Architects. Then I have to take the Board. After passing the Board and becoming a full – fledged Architect my father demanded for me to stay in Tacloban to help him in his business. Only in 2013 was I allowed to work full-time in Manila.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: This course offers one much income and money. This is the course that is good for people who like to be in the construction business and landscaping. I will recommend this to those who can be patient in learning more from the experienced Architects.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Those wanting to take this course must have the full support of their parents. The class projects are many and the student must have the money to do this. This course also needs much time and work due to the many projects.
After graduation, the student will spend again in complying the 2-year requirement of working with the Architects. Then after that there is the formal review for the Board exams. Those from the provinces have to go to Manila and take the Board exam there. It is quite a burden for those parents who do not have high income and they have to borrow money. These are the considerations before one takes the course.

About my college education: BS Architecture has never been an easy course to take up. Being the marriage of art and science, the course demands some solid knowledge and passion for both fields. An aspiring architect should not only be able to design aesthetically-pleasing structures, but only be knowledgeable on how it would be supported, plus an understanding of how people are going to benefit from it - the approach really is multi-disciplinary. Nevertheless, studying architecture, especially in UP Diliman, is both enjoyable and challenging. The enjoyment comes after challenges are surmounted. One has to have a complete toolkit of skills in order to become a UP Arki. The early stages of the project/plate would involve lots of decision-making, thus, analytical and critical thinking are vital as well as creativity in order to come up with an interesting and relevant concepts. Production of the required drawings and presentation materials would then require lots of hard work.one has to be prepared to lose sleep for several nights, work fast and be meticulous with the details. Once the outputs are prepared, presenting the product is another obstacle to hurdle as this would require great amount of confidence, good communication and presentation skills, and conviction to stand by the principles you based your project/plate upon. As I have said, it is only after surmounting all these challenges that one realizes that studying architecture is really enjoyable - that is, if you have a passion for it.
My current job: I am currently an Architect at a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) handling projects for potential implementation by the national government. This is my second job as I used to work as a junior project coordinator, and later junior architect after taking the licensure examinations, at a design and build firm.
Am I using what I learned in college: Everything that I learned at the university can be considered as 'practical' as they are implementable with the current building technologies. I could say, though, that they really become 'useful' at certain opportunities. Not only were the lessons inside the classrooms informative and beneficial, but the ones learned outside the classroom are also of the same value. The desire to be creatively innovative and create meaningful places for people cannot all be read in textbooks but through exposure to various elements influential to one's design preferences. Filtering them with the values we acquired results to our own approach to the design process and our 'signature' emerges.
Of course, in professional practice, we do not use those long formulas for determining the size of a beam, because experts are doing it for us and tools are already available for our consumption. It is the lesson on maintaining competitiveness and integrity in our work that is more important and are actually applicable in our everyday lives as professionals.
Now, to be more specific, I benefited from the computer lessons given us - gaining basic know-how on the software and other tools available, construction standards taught to us still have not changed and so are applicable. Building technologies are constantly being improved, so what we were taught before are realities today and are starting to become mainstream in the construction industry. While mastery of the things being taught to us will give us good grades, mastering the art of flexibility and being fearless to try out new things will give us an interesting career, to say the least.
How long did it take to find a job: Even before graduation, I participated in a job fair held at the college and submitted my resume hoping that one of the companies present would hire me. It was barely a month after my graduation that I found myself hired under a design and build firm.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: Yes, I would recommend BS Architecture to anyone who is passionate about it. It is not for everyone, but having the right qualities for an aspiring architect, the course would be enjoyable and even surprisingly refreshing!
In terms of employment opportunities, there is an uptrend in the construction industry worldwide and architects and other design professionals will be in demand. There are also a number of roles an architect could assume should he/she prefer to stay here in the Philippines.
The work of an architect is very much fulfilling, especially upon seeing what was only in paper before now stands as a three-dimensional object before your eyes and is enjoyed by people. The profession also demands that an architect be updated with the current trends in the industry especially the tools, materials, and technologies available in order to keep his/her projects interesting.
Salary levels vary greatly depending on the company you are with. Try to land on a good company for maximal benefits of course. But, that does not mean small and medium-scale companies are no good. They may still offer good compensation packages especially for those with good tenure. Salary levels outside the country are of an entirely different league, though.
In general, being an architect is really a rewarding profession.it's how one uses his/her profession that still defines success.

About my college education: It was a half-hearted decision. My parents wanted me to take it, since it is one of UST's academic expertise, but I was hesitant because I also wanted to take up Advertising.
So entering this course, I never really try to grasp all the learning, just passing the subjects would be enough. But as I go deeper into the course, the excellence of different architecture, the beauty in numbers, and the freedom of conceptualization, I found myself falling in love with the course.
In terms of skills, you really have to take the effort to learn how to draw and render architecturally, (abstract drawing doesn't work here), don't underestimate math you'll use it at work (seriously), and read a lot of architectural books, critic and learn from each work and masterpiece.
My current job: By God's grace I am now a practicing licensed architect.
Am I using what I learned in college: Yes, almost all of it. From design conceptualizing, to 3d rendering, to mathematics, to simple formal dressing, everything I've learned is being exhausted now.
How long did it take to find a job: 2 months. I took a summer vacation right after graduation.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: Yes, especially for those who love arts, and looking for an avenue to learn and appreciate art better.
This course can lead you to many employment and career opportunities, it doesn't end with being an architect. You can be a professor, a contractor, a project manager, and so on.
If you want to pursue being an architect, you have to be reminded that profession will need hard work and time for you to establish yourself. Like how my former professor told our class, "This profession is for the rich". I think when he told us that, he meant that you need to have the right network of people, those people who are willing to spend for a beautiful and excellent architecture.
If you're still starting you have to sacrifice the salary level, for the opportunity to learn. A lot of great architectural firms can only offer as much a minimum salary level, so that's a sacrifice you have to weigh.

Why did I choose Architecture: Ever since I was a child, I liked playing with LEGO. I liked building things and seeing how they are put together. I liked designing stuff, taking apart things just to see how they work. This curiosity in things, I was able to channel them to the buildings that surrounds us. I was curious in how they were constructed and how they were put together. From a young age, I knew I would like to be an architect.
I was, back then ok in terms of my drawing skills. I was not the best but able. Also in my math studies, I was just ok average kid. But this did not stop me in trying architecture as a course.
About my college education: Most of the work were challenging and we were mostly encouraged to express our creativity while in a group or individual setting. We were pushed to be more expressive and creative in our presentations of our designs and to be critical of all the processes that comes along with it.
During the first three years, we are honed of our drawing and visual skills. Most drawing esquisse and plates were very time consuming and demanding. We were trained to draw in a variety of mediums and styles, while being taught history of architecture, theory of architecture, visual tech., building tech., etc. There were times we were asked to draw at least 10 buildings a week of various historical structures as the subjects progressed. Technical drawings were also taught and we were made to understand the connection between the things drawn to it's implementation in real life. Drawings are there to be the instruction manual of the builder on how to construct the structure.
Studying architecture is not only time consuming but financially as well. Because of the numerous plates and projects to be done, especially during thesis. Its prudent that you have enough financial backing.
This course has a lot of math subjects or math related subjects. College Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Physics 1-2, Differential and Integral Calculus, ES1-Statics of Rigid Bodies, ES2-Strength of Materials, Surveying, ES3-Theory of Structures, AS 1 & 2-Steel and Timber Design, and AS3-Architectural Structures.
My current job: Principal Architect / Managing Director of a small multi-disciplinary design consultancy firm which offers architecture, engineering and environmental management. Being the principal architect, I'm the chief designer and main representative consultant of the company for all projects. Having a knowledge of all trades not only thru my experience but thru my education has helped me achieve this position.
Am I using what I learned in college: Understanding all the subjects and their concepts is essential in performing all the requirements of being an architect. So being able to memorize or know it all is not essential but being able to grasp the ideas is key.
How long did it take to find a job: A month after. But you need at least 2 years as mandated by law to have an apprenticeship prior taking your board exams. So, the first couple of years of working was really tough and challenging. Low wages and long, long, long hours of work.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: There are a lot of career opportunities for graduates of this course. Creativity is key. From the natural architectural posts to the creatives of advertising and production, no limits. You can be employed or self-employed.
Salary is relative. If your taking the natural architectural path, that would be most challenging, just like what I did most part. Starting from the basic to medium salary during 1-5 years of experience, to medium to high salary during 6-15 years of experience. Salary will become proportionate to the kind of experience, skill and knowledge of the architect.
Having your own practice will be the most rewarding not only personally but possibly financially. Practicing as an architect can be stagnating for some while can be lucrative for those who are determined, persevering, and sometimes a little lucky.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Take this course if you are hard working, determined, patient (a lot is needed), and have the passion for it.
Don't take this if you want to get rich easy. You will get rich in time if you strive for it.

About my college education: It is challenging specially for someone who came from a small town high school. My course requires a lot of skills in math. We did cost estimation, surveying, structural load computations, etc etc etc. I encountered a lot of difficulties while studying because I'm not that good in numbers, but I survived!
Of course you need a lot of drawing skills and creativity. An Architect is a creative artist whose masterpiece are houses and buildings.
My current job: I work in the government as a program planning chief
Am I using what I learned in college: Yes, although I rarely use my drawing skills in my current job. I supervise people doing project proposal formulation. But the discipline and the "planning" skills that I learned in the university makes me a better "planning" officer. Para din syang gumagawa ng plano ng bahay or building. You must know what your finish project would look like even before you start drawing the first line on paper. And of course you must know and make step by step instructions on how to build the project.
How long did it take to find a job: I got a job immediately after graduation. I first worked as a draftsman and handled a few small projects before I joined a government agency which handles technical and vocational education
Do I recommend studying Architecture: YES! The economy is doing great. You can see a lot of malls and condominiums rising everywhere. The country needs fresh ideas and new architects.

About my college education: My college education was both interesting and challenging. Interesting because I got a chance to learn new things that I know I would never learn from other courses. Challenging as well because I needed to constantly educate myself because there are a lot of things that were important that were not taught to us by our teachers.
My current job: Apparently, I have two jobs. First is being a designer for different residential and commercial buildings. My second job is an ESL Teacher, where I need to teach Korean and Japanese students English.
Am I using what I learned in college: Of course, Architecture is both theoretical and practical. Not all the things I learned in school could be adopted to the real world. I just have to weigh things on which is better and which is more practical and economical. But when it comes to the different rules and regulations concerning constructing buildings, the lessons I learned were all very useful.
How long did it take to find a job: Two months before my graduation, I was already on the hunt for a job. So when I was interviewed, I told the manager that I could start working for them the moment I finished my course. Thankfully, I never experienced the long wait of being employed.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: Yes definitely I recommend Architecture especially for those who are creative, dedicated, patient and open to learn new and difficult things. Architecture is something you need to focus a hundred percent because you will be definitely left behind when you are not doing your projects and assignments on time. Most importantly, Architecture is a world where you can freely express yourself as an individual and as an artist.

About my college education: My education on the first 2 years is just like my 3rd-4th year in highschool or even easier. Since I was in an all-girls' school, it was challenging for me to relate to boys in the Coed School.
As the years pass by and nearing your senior year, it becomes difficult, you have to prove yourself, endure hardship, test your patience and stretch your waking hours.
Architecture means producing tons of drawings, research papers, and a little bit of computation.
Budget wise, it is costly because there are lots of outputs, special materials, group projects.
My current job: I am now a designer in a construction firm which is family built and owned. It is the product of our hardship and struggle.
Am I using what I learned in college: I learned basic stuffs in the university curriculum and most of it in the experience within the university.
My encounter in my every day life at school and independence taught me how to be strong and to find practical solutions - like to how to beat the deadline with a good output, how to be a team player, how to resolve issues.
I am using everything I learned and apply it to my daily routine
How long did it take to find a job: It took me 1 month or less to have a job as an apprentice.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: I would recommended this not for money but for passion and interest in the design and construction industry. Architecture is about life, about improving the lives of the end users which are the people. It is also about art, and those who appreciate it.
It is about practical solutions to the needs of the people.

Why did I choose Architecture: My father is an Electrical Engineer, my elder brother is a Mechanical Engineer, so I decided to be in a different field, so I chose this course. Maybe, we can have our own construction company in the future.
About my college education: This course has taught me much about landscaping, structural design, and compliance of architectural requirements.
The structural design is partly difficult and partly enjoyable. The difficult part is the innovation. The enjoyable part is the joy of making a new design.
The practicum requires a student after graduation to go into actual training with an architectural firm for 2 years before being allowed to take the Board Licensure Exam. This is very good in the sense that it makes the student to become familiar with the job of an architect.
This course takes five years to finish the academics and another two years for the practicum. In all, before one is allowed to take the Board exam, that is 7 years of studying and preparing for the Board exam.
My current job: Now, I have my own construction and consulting company with my wife who is also a licensed Architect as my business partner.
Am I using what I learned in college: In my college years I learned about consulting since my father was already handling some clients who hired him for the electrical requirements of the building and sometimes he asked me to make a design. I learned how to earn money by consulting on my own or through another firm.
How long did it take to find a job: Immediately after passing the Board exam I and my wife put up our own consulting and construction firm.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: After one passes the Board exam he might not land in a job for an architect. But I still recommend this course because an Architect is always needed in a construction company and in the consulting firms. A licensed Architect can go into his own consulting business.
In the scale of compensation, the Architect ranks among the highest paid employee. The employers are rich who build skyscrapers and tall commercial buildings. Even by just signing in a building plan, the signature of the Architect is needed before the building permit is given by the local government unit concerned. Such signature alone costs between P10,000 to P1,000,000, or even more.

Why did I choose Architecture: I was fond of doing some arts or drawings since grade school and I thought that the skills I had suited on this course. I also had a dream of being an Architect and being able to create some designs for my own projects.
About my college education: Personally, I do not think that there are subjects that were so difficult to learn, since I really liked this course. Nothing is impossible as long as you like what you are doing.
The interesting and enjoyable parts about Architecture were the activities of doing arts, colors and designs since you can use your imagination and apply the skills you have learned. Sometimes I found the lectures on other subjects boring. While knowing new things, arts, decoration and fun colors are very interesting for me.
My current job: I am currently working in a Business Process Outsourcing company.
I am assigned in financial accounts as a collecting agent. My main job is to collect for clients with more than 5 years debt. It is not an easy job but I am starting to get used to it since I have been working in this industry for years already.
I am also studying another course now, a management course since I have a goal of being promoted to supervisory or managerial position in the same company I am working now.
Am I using what I learned in college: With regards to my current job, I cannot say that what I have learned on college is practical. I am not using the skills I have learned from the Architecture course.
I could say that the subjects related to English comprehension or the English subject in general are somewhat useful, since I am using the English language in dealing with the clients.
How long did it take to find a job: After my graduation, I got a job in a month.
I really need to have a work that time since I needed to support myself so, I applied to a job even it was not related to my course. Even I am not practicing or using what I have learned, I am still thankful that I have used my Bachelor's or college degree in applying for a job. There are industries that will require or need degree course graduates on any course.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: I would recommend the BS Architecture course for those who aspire to be Architects someday. It can be a fulfilling career if you really like it and not just forced into it.
Entry level jobs are mostly waged minimum or a bit above minimum. The salary will be higher as you gained more experienced and worked longer on a company.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: It is important that you love what you are doing as well as what you are studying. Having the passion on this course would help you deal with various difficulties you might encounter while studying.
You can be more skilled on designing if you have focus on learning the techniques and necessary things about it.

About my college education: I took it because I was seeking a profession where I can utilize my talent in graphic arts and where I can apply aesthetics with logical approach on structural design and functions.
Since our class were the second pioneering batch of this course, the environment was roughly raw for us to do our activities in our classes. Nevertheless, we managed to get inspired by this kind of environment. We developed innovations and creativity because of the lacking facilities before. Materials were hard to find because the course was newly offered and mostly we went to Manila just to avail some materials we'd want to use for our plates, esquisses and thesis.
In our first 2 years, some professors came from our drafting department to solidify the foundation of architectural studies. There was a licensed architect and an aspiring architect who served as our class advisers. Upon gearing to the higher years, more professional architects and designers were hired to sustain the growing population of our department and to go along with time as facilities are improving in our department and more students were seen great potentials to be a big and competitive architects and designers in the future.
Facilities played a big factor to the development of a single student. If you got a rough surface table, one cannot draw his/her design in accuracy and precision. If you lack instruments, then time is a big constraint one have to put up with when deadline is set. If only that time the National Bookstore has already opened up for business in the province, then it will be easier to just avail everything needed. But what if we are 30 in our class and we need big sized drawing boards, and with 6-8 gigantic drawing boards per students? Sometimes scarcity will eat up our anxiety and struggle in this course.
My current job: I tried studying again but in the medical field.
Am I using what I learned in college: All that has been learned should be used and be applied to our everyday life. That's what one architect, who is also a professor in that university, have always said to me. During my days, computer applications for our profession had been developed and introduced us complex systems to arrive at a more precise and accurate design for our projects. Many of my former classmates I have in contact with have been mainly using this technology when they went abroad. There was one year that a certain talented architect/professor was hired and I believe he was an icon in our department before because he has introduced us a different approach on how an architect can have a good foundation to becoming a great architect.
Not only skills and knowledge was shared and developed but, most importantly, he taught us how to beat pressure against social criticisms and dilemma on professional situations.
How long did it take to find a job: During our architecture days in my 4th year, I was lucky to already have clients who would want their living room redecorated, who would want their small house renovated, who would want a redesign of the landscape of their front yards, who would want to build their simple dream homes, and who would want to build an office space for their businesses. I tried freelance work but in partnership. But sadly, my partners have chosen a different path and so as I.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: Architects are now in demand because our economy is in bloom. Real estate development had been booming on every islands of our country. There yet still undeveloped treasures in our country and tourism plays a major role to boosting our economy up.
If you love travelling, then we have it; if you love leisure, then you're the boss who will be served with pleasure; if you like meeting people, then all sorts of people will not just come but will look up to you.
Being an architect in our country is one big struggle but when you shared your talent and skills on the right place and time, then you will be compensated more than you have imagined and lawfully you would enjoy more benefits from your projects.

Why did I choose Architecture: My father said that I should take Architecture; He said that he saw that I was great in building and designing things, maybe because I was always playing Lego. It was a no brainer decision, I took it because my dad wanted me to.
About my college education: Studying this course, I had few assignments but many graphing, analyzing, researching projects, and lots of concussive exams. After bearing it for 5 years, the Licensure Exam comes for more mental agony. It was hell of an experience to be an architecture student, other of my classmates was forced to shift. It wasn't easy for me either but instead of giving up I was more eager and determined to finish the course.
My current job: I am currently unemployed since I just passed the Architect Licensure Exam. I just applied this week at Land Bank of Philippines because they were in demand for Civil engineers and Licensed architects. I am still waiting for their decision.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: One must be ready to stay awake at late nights due to long hours of studying. Get the complete set of tools needed for architecture. For students who wants to take this course I advice them that they ask their parents before deciding to take this course because studying architecture is very expensive and tiring.

Why did I choose Architecture: I love drawing, it was always fun for me, it still is. I 've always imagine myself building and creating an environment that will be enjoyed by people.
About my college education: I enjoyed studying the course, the late nights and rush project submission. I most of all enjoyed learning from and with my batch mates. 5 years of architecture is an amazing ride for me. I learned a lot about art and life itself.
My current job: Architectural Project Designer in one of the premier design company in the world.
Am I using what I learned in college: Yes, all of it and then some.
How long did it take to find a job: I was already working when I was in my 4th year, as a designer / draftsman.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: Yes, I would recommend the study of Architecture only when you have the heart and passion for it.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Love what you do, sometimes it's hard but by having the passion for the profession you'll find every step would be easy and inspiring. I believe that there is always art in living.

About my college education: Designing structures is interesting, when most of the major subject professors gave projects all at the same time are the most difficult. I enjoyed during group projects. Thesis is the most chanllenging one.
To be successful in this course, one should know how to draw and have a passion for arts.
My current job: I am a Design Architect
Am I using what I learned in college: In school we design houses and buildings. What I learned in school is exactly what I am doing in my professional career.
How long did it take to find a job: 23 days
Do I recommend studying Architecture: I strongly recommend this course to others because of higher employment demands local and abroad. Salary level is fine and it is very enjoyable.

About my college education: I thoug it was gonna be easy for me to study achitecture. I had a wrong thought for that. It was a tough course. Equational formulas,math,sience, designing,engineering were all difficult subjects. Thank God I learned how to love those subjects.
My current job: Architect.

Do I recommend studying Architecture: I am recommending my education for those who see themselves in architectural field. It's very enjoyable to work as an achitect. Honestly Architect is more efficient than constructural engineer.

About my college education: Interesting for people who love drafting, drawing, sketching and math.
Difficult for people who don't have any passion for these types of skills.
Required skills are math, drawing ability, creativity and resourcefulness.
My current job: Customer Service Representative
Am I using what I learned in college: Yes because English language and logical skills are required for becoming a Customer Service Representative. In addition, I also do a part-time drafting jobs for my father who is an Engineer.
How long did it take to find a job: Immediately after graduation. Less than a month.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: Will recommend. The career is interesting and fulfilling especially if your own design was done. Salary wise, its good.

About my college education: I liked it because it was a field that I could excel in. It enhanced my creativity and drafting skills. It was difficult at times due to the fact that I was only one of the few women who took the course at that time and men were really competitive.
My current job: My current position is as an administrative coordinator in the Government of Ontario in Canada.
How long did it take to find a job: It actually took a while. What I found was a scholarship in Industrial Design at the Mapua Institute of Technology. I finished the course in 3 years. The scholarship provided me with monthly stipend as well as all my school needs.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: I would. But they should have the talent for being creative and ability to acquire the skills necessary to finish the course.

About my college education: My education was the best thing I have so far. It taught me how to understand things around me. It opened my eyes in the real world of competency.

About my college education: It was kind of hard for me as I don't have any drafting experience.
Skills required are as follows: Drafting skills, Math skills, creativity, hard work, analytical skills.
My current job: Product Design & Development Officer
Am I using what I learned in college: Some of what I learned from the university is practical even though most of it are not applicable to what I am doing now.
My background in Architecture (and Interior Design) somehow helps me in developing products that are used for the home/office as I am able to know how a space works.
How long did it take to find a job: I apprenticed after graduation and took up Interior Design as a post graduate course. After graduation from Interior Design (1995) I did freelance work.
Do I recommend studying Architecture: I will recommend this course to anyone who is really interested to pursue architecture as a profession or if he/she wants to start a firm as it will take lots of patience, hard work, money and even connections to be successful in this. You also need to take the board exam in order to practice this career.
