Harry Potter as a series is filled with many interesting and in-depth described characters. Many of these characters are deliberately described as being beautiful and handsome and most of these were followed in the movie interpretation. As with any other similar franchises, the only question left is who is the most attractive.
The ten most attractive characters as described by the books are Oliver Wood, Ginny Weasley, Bellatrix Lestrange, Sirius Black, Cederic Diggory, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter, Fleur Delacour, Draco Malfoy, and Tom Riddle.

Oliver Wood is one of the first characters we get introduced to during Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone. He is a Gryffindor who is a few years older than Harry and we met him when professor McGonagall introduces the two and proposes Harry be the new Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
In the books, he isn’t described as being notably attractive but rather having a certain charm to him. Throughout the story, there are few instances where Oliver is being described as having a handful of girls crushing over him.
This is further emphasized in the movies by casting Sean Biggerstaff to play the role of Oliver, who perfectly embodied the boy next door appeal Oliver has in the books.
9. Ginny Weasley
Ginny Weasley is described in the books as being perceived as beautiful by many people at Hogwarts. Aside from being physically beautiful, she is described as being funny and compassionate which brings people towards her and makes her likable.
Being an important player on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and an excellent athlete made her popular and well-liked among her peers. Besides catching the eye of the series’ main protagonist she was also noted by Dean and Blaise Zabini as extremely attractive.
8. Bellatrix Lestrange
In the movies, Bellatrix is portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter as is shown exclusively with her post-Azkaban appearance. Opposite of that the books contain quite a few descriptions of young Bellatrix and from both Harry’s and Sirius’ perspectives she is described as very beautiful.
However, this isn’t emphasized or even shown in the movies since J. K. Rowling wanted her evil personality to be the first thing you notice about her. Many fans criticized this choice believing that having her look like the center of the character would better convey the message that anyone could be a villain and made her less black and white.
7. Sirius Black
The movies don’t feature much of the Marauders at all and as such, with the exception of the third movie, Sirius doesn’t show up in much of the film franchise. Contrary to this, the Marauders are explained in depth in the books themselves.
Whenever Sirius is described in the books he is usually written and tall and attractive with a handsome face and elegant aura. This applies to Sirius after he escaped Azkaban as well as young Sirius.
This is noted by many different characters throughout the series, most notably by Harry, who saw young Sirius in Snape’s memories while practicing occlumency, and stating that his godfather was handsome when he was young. If you need help visualizing what young Sirius looked like, when there was a rumor of a Marauders-centered piece of media being release, Ben Barns was fan cast to play young Sirius.
6. Cederic Diggory
This choice was even confirmed by J. K. Rowling who said that Cederic is probably the most attractive character in the book series. He is described as Hogwarts’ golden boy who is good at everything and popular among all of the students.
He is also described as being noticeably attractive to the point that once he gets selected by the Goblet of Fire as Hogwarts’ champion for the Triwizard tournament many students get worried about how any injuries he may sustain during the challenges could affect his appearance.
In the movies, Cederic is played by Robert Pattinson who was marked by this role as a heartthrob at that time for many people.
5. Hermione Granger
Hermione Granger is one of the main characters from the beginning of the series and makes up one-third of the main protagonist trio. Although she is described in detail, the description is more focused on her personality.
Hermione is known from the beginning of the series as intelligent and unapologetic about her thirst for knowledge. During the Goblet of Fire more attention is placed on Hermione’s appearance, especially during the Yule Ball scene.
Besides this brief moment in the books, there are no other instances where Hermione’s appearance is the center of her characters rather than her brains and personality.
During this time she is described as so beautiful that it’s no longer unclear how Victor Crum managed to fall for her. Although the books don’t focus on her appearance too long the movies emphasized this by casting Emma Watson to play the role of Hermione.
4. Harry Potter
Harry is another character whose description is not fully focused on his appearance. He is vaguely described as a sweet boy who wants to help everyone and who is overall well-liked. He doesn’t stand out too much among his classmates, besides the fact that he is the boy who lived.
However, despite this over the course of the series, we learn about few girls having a crush on Harry like Romilda Vane in the movies.
Furthermore, both of Harry’s parents are described as being attractive. Lilly Evans was described as the most beautiful girl in her year and James as the popular, handsome jock. Much of this transferred to Harry himself since he was popular among girls as well. Some of this also comes from the fact that many were drawn to him because of the status as the chosen one.
3. Fleur Delacour
We get introduced to Fleur during Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire. She is a student from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and gets introduced to the story when she gets chosen to be the Beauxbatons’ champion during the Triwizard tournament.
She is described in the books as being extremely beautiful to the point that her beauty captivated everyone once she arrived at Hogwarts the year the Triwizard tournament was held.
This makes sense since she is a quarter Veela. Veelas are essentially half fairies of European descent widely known for their beauty and signature white-blonde hair. Her mother was a half-Veela and the beauty coming from that origin conveyed to Fleur as well.
2. Draco Malfoy
Although the opinion that Draco Malfoy is attractive seems to be universally accepted the books never explain it in such a way. This is also supported by J. K. Rowling who once in an interview said that she never pictured Draco as being attractive.
On the other hand, it is not hard to understand why fans seem to universally agree on the fact that Draco is attractive. He has a tragic background and redeemable qualities which makes everything he does an action of a misunderstood boy rather than someone being mean.
The books simply describe Draco as being pale with platinum blonde hair and icy gray eyes and the movie portrayal seems to be spot on with a slight emphasis on certain aspects of the character’s appearance.
Despite the fact that the book doesn’t focus on Draco’s look much besides a basic description that describes Draco as quite average looking. However, this is changed within the movies in a way since the actor playing Draco, Tom Felton was considered to be one of the most attractive cast members at the time movies were released.
1. Tom Riddle
Obviously, we are talking about pre-Voldemort Tom Riddle, while he still had a nose and a soul. It almost seems like whenever young Voldemort is mentioned he is described as being handsome.
He is described as having a pale complexion but with dark hair and eyes and a mysterious aura. J. K. Rowling mentioned his charm and good looks almost every time he is mentioned in the books, which is why most readers assume he was handsome.
This is also mentioned by several characters throughout the series such as Harry, Slughorn, and Dumbledore when talking about Tom Riddle. Young Tom Riddle in the movies is played by Christian Coulson who embodies physical features described in the books perfectly.
