Nike, Starbucks and Forever 21 are at the top of a ranking of the most followed brands on Instagram. The study was done by Nitrogram 50 and ranks the top 450 brands present on the photo-sharing social media app.
Nike takes the top spot with 1.68 billion followers, followed in second place by Starbucks. Forever 21, Adidas and Topshop are next in the ranking. In sixth position is Victoria’s Secret, followed by Vans (7), Michael Kors (9), Converse (10), H&M (13), Burberry (14), Hollister (15), Louis Vuitton (17), Gucci (19), Louboutin (20), Zara (21), Sephora (22), Marc Jacobs (23) and Asos (24). Also present in the top 50 are Roxy (30), American Apparel (32), Abercrombie & Fitch (34), American Eagle (36), Juicy Couture (40), Armani (41), Urban Outfitters (42) and Versace (46).
Free app Instagram allows users to share polaroid-style photos and recently introduced a video function. The app is reported to have over 130 billion users. Some 16 billion photos are uploaded each day and one billion likes are made.
