Vestas Powers Italy's First Cement Factory with Wind Energy | Sustainable Industrial Decarbonisation (2026)

Vestas has secured a significant order for a wind project that will power a cement factory in Italy, marking a groundbreaking step towards sustainable energy solutions in the construction materials industry. The project, valued at 10 MW, is a collaboration between Vestas and Cementeria Costantinopoli Srl, a leading manufacturer of construction materials. The wind farm, to be located next to the factory, will supply renewable energy, covering approximately one-third of the factory's electricity needs with clean, affordable, and sustainable power.

The contract includes the supply and installation of three V117-3.45 MW turbines, along with a 10-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement. This initiative not only reduces the factory's environmental footprint but also demonstrates a commitment to industrial decarbonisation in the region. Francesco Amati, General Manager of Vestas Italy, highlights the project's significance, stating that it is the first of its kind in the country, exclusively powering an energy-intensive cement factory with clean wind energy.

Rabasco Roberto, Chief Sustainability Officer of Cementeria Costantinopoli Srl, adds that the activation of the first wind farm for self-consumption in Italy, realised with Vestas technology, is a milestone in energy and sustainability. This strategic investment strengthens their leadership in the decarbonisation of the sector and underscores their dedication to building a productive future with reduced environmental impact. The turbine delivery and commissioning are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, further solidifying Vestas' leadership in the country's wind energy sector, where they have installed over 6 GW since 1991.

This project is a testament to Vestas' role as the energy industry's global partner in sustainable energy solutions. With over 197 GW of wind turbines in 88 countries, Vestas has installed more wind power than any other company. Their smart data capabilities and extensive service portfolio of over 159 GW of wind turbines under service enable them to interpret, forecast, and exploit wind resources, delivering best-in-class wind power solutions. Vestas' commitment to sustainability and innovation positions them as a leader in the transition to clean energy, and this project is a significant step towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
