Is general admission at Monza worth it? ›

The General Admission offer at Monza is excellent value for money, particularly when you take into account 'Free Friday' when you can sit in any grandstand you wish (not yet confirmed if Free Friday will be available in 2022).

The weather is generally hot and sunny at Monza in the late Italian summer, and most grandstands are uncovered, so don't forget to bring a hat and sunscreen and to wear light, comfortable clothing.

Organisers are expectant that demand for the Friday and Saturday of the race weekend is such that both days could also all be taken up. This would be the first time in the history of the race, which has been on the F1 calendar every year since 1950, all three days will have sold out.

For general admission, you can buy the tickets at all the gates except Gate 1. As the GP is on for 4 days (Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th). If you don't want to attend on one of the days, you are not wasting your money by pre-buying your tickets.

The Prato ticketcorresponds to the General Ticket of the Monza circuit. It allows access to the entire area of grass and asphalt that surrounds the sketch. It has several gastronomic, relaxing options and is perfect for viewing different sections of the track.

The covered Grandstands A & M are located on the start/finish straight at Imola, good for watching the pitlane and key moments of racing. Other good places to watch include Grandstands D/E/F at Acque Minerale and Grandstands H/F on either side of the Rivazza corner at the end of the lap.

There are many quality food and drink facilities across the circuit, however you may bring your own food in plastic containers into the circuit if you wish. You are not permitted however to bring alcohol or glass containers into the circuit. Alcohol can be purchased once you are inside the circuit.

How do I get to Imola Grand Prix? ›

The closest airport to the Imola Circuit is Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ), less than 50km away, which is a major hub for Ryanair. Alternatively, Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI) in Rimini is 90km away.

Fans with a PADDOCK PASS can gain access and explore the paddock throughout the event weekend. The best times to visit the IndyCar paddock are following on-track practice or qualifying sessions, when the area will be a buzz of activity.

A folding chair and a few books or magazines will help here. Be sure to adjust your clothing to take into account the likely weather conditions.

TIP 2: WEAR EAR PLUGS

Since the sound on the track is louder than at an average music festival, a high degree of protection is important. Is this the first time you will go to a motor race, or do you only go occasionally? We recommend the Alpine WorkSafe ear plugs. These have a high degree of protection of 23 decibels.

F1 team members wear headsets to always stay in contact. Communication is an essential weapon for F1 teams, both at the track and in the factory back home. A few people may physically attend meetings, but wearing headsets enables everyone to participate irrespective of their location.

Why dont they use the banking at Monza? ›

It was found to be too dangerous, and from 1970 on the 1000 Kilometers of Monza was held only on the road circuit. After the 1969 race, the high-speed circuit layout wasn't used anymore. The banking fell into disuse and was no longer maintained.

The circuit can be reached by car through the Vedano al Lambro entrance; the Biassono Santa Maria delle Selve entrance is open on race days. The location of the race track inside the Park of Monza, then, creates a unique setting, involving also from the naturalistic perspective.

How steep was the banking? Very steep - up to 80 percent gradient at its steepest point. The curves, which were built on reinforced concrete structures and were lined with only a small armco barrier, had a radius of 320 metres and were designed to cope with theoretical top speeds of around 285 km/h (177 mph).
