But here's where it gets tricky: scammers seized the opportunity to exploit Ripple's popularity and XRP's prominence.
Deepfakes and crypto scams are on the rise, and these fraudulent videos are a new weapon in their arsenal. Scammers manipulate videos, creating deepfakes that appear genuine, often using footage from media interviews or public events. They then overlay scam content, luring unsuspecting viewers to send XRP to fraudulent addresses.
Ripple's message is clear: Never send your XRP. The company reminds users that they will never ask for XRP transfers. Scammers may use fake websites with 'send to' wallet addresses and even chat features to trick users.
Ripple's proactive approach to security is commendable. In August 2025, they joined forces with TRM Labs' Beacon Network to combat crypto crimes. And earlier, in May 2024, they became a founding member of the DeRec Alliance, dedicated to simplifying digital asset recovery.
