A thrilling divisional-round matchup between the Patriots and Texans left fans on the edge of their seats. The Patriots' defense dominated, intercepting C.J. Stroud four times in the first half alone!
Stroud's interceptions varied, from a 26-yard pick-six by Marcus Jones to a couple of other costly mistakes. The Texans might have considered a quarterback change at halftime, as Stroud's stats were far from impressive: 10-of-26 for 124 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions.
Carlton Davis and Craig Woodson each had two interceptions, showcasing the Patriots' defensive prowess. Meanwhile, the Texans' quarterback, Drake Maye, had a rough first half, fumbling the ball three times, with the Patriots recovering two of them.
Despite the turnovers, the Texans managed to score a touchdown when Maye broke free and ran it up the middle, capitalizing on a broken play. C.J. Stroud then connected with Christian Kirk for a 10-yard touchdown, giving Houston a brief 10-7 lead.
Both teams struggled to generate consistent offense. Houston had nine first downs and 132 yards, but their four turnovers proved costly. New England, with just six first downs and 134 yards, managed to stay in the game with a 1-of-8 performance on third down conversions.
Maye finished the half with decent stats: 10-of-19 for 117 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception on a Hail Mary attempt.
As the second half kickoff approaches, the Texans will be looking to bounce back, while the Patriots aim to maintain their lead.
But here's the controversial part: With Stroud's struggles and Maye's inconsistent performance, could we see a quarterback change for the Texans? And will the Patriots' defense continue to dominate?
What do you think? Should the Texans stick with their current quarterback, or is it time for a change? Let us know in the comments!
