McDonald's announces milkshakes are officially back on the menu (2024)

McDonald's milkshakes are back on the menu at restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales.

From Monday, September 13, customers will once again be able to get their hands on their favourite refreshments after they were temporarily removed by the fast-food chain.

It comes after McDonald's was hit by supply issues in August, leading to a nationwide shortage of milkshakes. In fact, last month we tried to find a McDonald's milkshake in Cardiff city centre and were left empty-handed. You can read more on this here.

At the time, the restaurant also confirmed bottled drinks were unavailable but said it was "working hard to return these items to the menu as soon as possible".

And now it looks like the wait is over, as milkshakes appear to be firmly back on menus.

Sharing the news across its social media platforms, McDonald's told fans: "Thick, tasty and made from Fresh Organic British Milk. That's right, MILKSHAKES ARE BACK."

And speaking to WalesOnline, a McDonald's spokesperson confirmed: "We're delighted to confirm shakes and bottled drinks will be returning to our restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales from today.

"Our iconic milkshakes, made with fresh organic British milk, are an incredibly popular menu item, and we have been working hard with our distribution centres to return them to the menu.

"We'd like to thank our customers for their patience whilst we temporarily removed them from sale."

Last week, McDonald's delighted fans by adding a new vegan offering to menus.

Called the McPlant Burger, the meat-free menu option features a vegan sesame bun, mustard, ketchup, vegan Sauce, fresh onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato and vegan cheese.

According to The Mirror 's taste test, the "burger finely imitates the taste and texture of meat".

It is also cooked separately from other McDonald's burgers and sandwiches using dedicated utensils. You can read more about it here.
