Where are most clothing manufacturers in Thailand located?
Most textile manufacturers based in and around Bangkok. This is also the center point for Thailand’s export, manufacturing and logistics cluster. As such, it’s easy to travel and meet a large number of clothing suppliers, as many of them are based in the same region.

Is it cheaper to buy textiles from Thailand compared to China?
Labor costs, which make up a significant portion of the cost in textile manufacturing, are somewhat higher in Thailand than in China. That said, labor costs have a limited impact on small volume buyers (e.g. anything less than 5,000 pcs per order).
That being said, importers selling the United State can make notable cost reductions by sourcing in Thailand due to the ongoing trade war between the US and China – which has resulted in a 15% additional tariff being levied on Chinese-made garments.
It’s also important to mention that you’ll only maintain a cost advantage if you source fabrics available in Thailand. Keep in mind that you don’t have the same availability of fabrics can are produced domestically. Therefore, certain fabrics need to be imported which adds to both cost and lead time.
Can we buy small volumes from textiles suppliers in Thailand?
Thailand is generally more ‘small buyer friendly’ than Vietnam and India. If you ask us, Thailand is currently the best manufacturing destination in Asia, if China is not an option.
However, ‘small volumes’ can mean different things to suppliers and buyers. Don’t expect the MOQs to be lower than what’s offered by clothing factories in Mainland China.
What is the standard Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
The MOQ in Thailand depends on the factory. As such, there is no ‘national standard MOQ’. Some clothing suppliers set the MOQ as low as 200 pcs SKU, while others require 2000 pcs per SKU.
Further, keep in mind that the fabric also impacts the MOQ. By using standard fabrics, or fabrics that can be sourced within Thailand, you’ll keep the MOQ lowered as compared to if you need fabrics custom made or imported.
