Send a client or prospective client your portfolio -- or a link to your portfolio -- online to give him instant access to examples of your work, which aids him in making a quick decision on whether to hire you. Having your portfolio in an electronic format also makes it easier for the person to whom you send it to share it with colleagues, if the decision involves the consensus of a group.

Scan your physical portfolio into an electronic format if you don't already have an electronic version of the portfolio. If you're a cartoonist, for example, scan paper examples of your work as images or PDF files. Add individual image or PDF files to a larger PDF file to assemble your portfolio.

Log in to your email provider and compose a new message. Type in your client's email address, a subject related to the fact that you're sending your portfolio and a message that briefly explains the portfolio's content. Attach the portfolio to the email and send it off.

Upload your portfolio to your personal Web space and embed a link to the portfolio document into a page on the site. Alternatively, upload your portfolio to a portfolio sharing utility like Carbonmade or Viewbook. In either case, provide your client a link to the portfolio online.
