Hooray! Your favourite Sim is pregnant! But do you want the baby’s gender to be a surprise – or do you want to play god and meddle in it? Here’s how to change a baby’s gender in The Sims 4.
There are two ways you can change (or at least influence) the gender of a baby-to-be in The Sims 4. We’ll go over the cheating method first. Before you start, though, remember that activating cheats on Sims 4 on console means you can’t unlock any trophies or achievements. If they’re important to you, then don’t do this!
Changing a baby’s gender with a cheat
You’ll need to first activate cheats in your game of Sims 4. To bring up the console panel, press Ctrl, Shift and C on PC, or press all four shoulder buttons on console. Once the box appears, type in “testingcheats true”.
To change a baby’s gender, next type in “cas.fulleditmode”. This activates a tool that allows you to fully edit a sim. Note you can only do thisafterthe baby’s been born; you’ll need to shift-click on the baby, which will then give you access to information in the same way the Create-a-Sim tool does. In there, you can toggle gender to your desired choice.
Influencing a baby’s gender without cheating
If cheating isn’t the right path for you (we salute you!) there are certain things you can do inThe Sims 4to influence whether the baby will be a boy or a girl.
If you’d like to have a boy, have your pregnant sim eat carrots and listen to alternative music.
If you’d like the baby to be a girl, have your pregnant sim eat strawberries and listen to pop music.
Of course, this won’tguaranteethe baby’s gender. We’re not sure exactly how it increases your chances, or if it’s like those real-world old wive’s tale that supposedly determine if you’re having a girl or a boy, but numerous players have reported them working. And hey, it can’t hurt to try.
