How far below the Hull should the prop be?

On a Jon Boat with a 10hp… I don’t need to go fast, I just need to stay shallow.
So, the question is… how high can I go? I am going to experiment; I was just looking for opinions…
Another question, what is I tunneled the back of the boat? Would that work, help?

The plate right above the prop (can't think of the name of it at this moment) should be roughly even with the bottom of the keel. Then you can trim the motor up or down (rotate) in small increments to get the best performance from it.
If you have a short shaft motor, the top most part of the transom and the lower most part of the boat should be about 15 to 16 inches. For a long shaft, I think 20 to 21 inches is correct.

Some mornings it just doesn't seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps.

Two words to add: Water Pump!
If you don't see water stooting out that little hole in the back, your running to high!
You could install a Jack Plate to rise and lower, even when your running.
One day.
