What do you mean by "darker"? Redder? You can use Alt+Shift+Page Up and Alt+ Page Down or Alt+Shift+F11 and Alt+Shift+F12 to adjust the the color temperature beyond what the interface lets you do. You can get the color temperature to be 100% red at 800K. If your monitor is still too bright at 800K, then you should turn down your monitor's brightness.
F.lux can also adjust the black level with Alt+Page Up and Alt+Page Down, or Alt+F11 and Alt+F12. While this won't adjust your monitor's backlight brightness, it still helps.
I totally had no idea about those shortcuts...and I've had flux for years lol. I haven't crashed since I started using them, either, although the screen effect used is the same as Dimmer(I think) which crashed me all the time.
@pepe72 F. lux doesn't adjust the backlight brightness. It just adjusts the black level, which makes the overall color easier on the eyes, appearing darker while not actually being darker. So you need to adjust the actual brightness of your display, which is done with buttons on the monitor or on the laptop.
Click on the battery icon in the taskbar and click on the brightness icon to open the brightness slider.Move the slider to the left to lower the screen brightness to the lowest possible setting. If this does not lower the brightness to zero, you can try using the Windows Mobility Center to adjust the brightness.
You can increase brightness with Alt + PgUp and decrease brightness with Alt + PgDn . As the OP's answer specifies, you can increase and decrease brightness with Alt + PgUp and Alt + PgDn .
Open the action center in the taskbar and drag the brightness slider. Alternatively, go to Settings > System > Display and drag the brightness slider. Optionally, check the box labeled Change brightness automatically when lighting changes in the display menu.
How do I dim my desktop monitor? In Windows f. lux, use the hotkeys Alt-PgDn and Alt-PgUp. (But if you're on a laptop, you should mostly dim your backlight to keep contrast.)
Press the button repeatedly to adjust the LCD brightness of your computer screen. See Changing the LCD Brightness for more information. To decrease lighting intensity, press the Fn+F5 keys. To increase lighting intensity, press the Fn+F6 keys.
The flux of an object is in units of energy/time/area and for a detected object, it is defined as its brightness divided by the area used to collect the light from the source or the telescope aperture (for example in cm2)148.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar.(You may need to scroll down.)Drag the Brightness slider on the right to adjust the brightness of your display.
