Grey's Anatomy Seattle Tour - All the TV Scene Locations! (2024)

If you’re a self-proclaimed couch potato like myself, and have spent a SICK amount of your life watching all 14 15 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy… You’ve come to the right post!

Oh Grey’s Anatomy… I have such a love/hate relationship with you. I hate you more than ANYTHING when you kill off every character I’ve ever loved, yet. Here we are, still tuning in every Thursday night.

I traveled to Seattle and got to see all of the famous scenes of Grey’s Anatomy come to life. This Grey’s Anatomy Seattle Tour is easily doable in a 3 day weekend, covering all the most notable stops…cue Grey’s Anatomy theme song.

Psssst… I created a 3 day Seattle Itinerary, which includes all of these stops! You can check it out here: 3 Day Weekend in Seattle!

Grey’s Anatomy Seattle Tour Stops

Grey’s Anatomy Ferry in Seattle

What better way to kick off this Grey’s anatomy tour than the famous Ferry ride across Puget Sound! They film hundreds of scenes throughout the series of the cast on the ferry with the notorious Seattle Skyline in the background.

You can take an $8 ferry ride across the Puget Sound to Bainbridge island! The ferry ride is only a quick 35 minute ride and you can reenact the famous scenes of Meredith Grey looking off into the distance. Plus, hanging out at Bainbridge Island for the day doesn’t suck!

To buy a ferry ticket, you will need to look up times in advance and purchase a ticket at the ferry stand before getting on. They rarely sell out, so I don’t think it’s necessary to purchase one in advance. Click here for the daily ferry times.

You can easily spend hours wandering Bainbridge Island, spending time on their walking and hiking trails or in their adorable downtown area. The downtown area of Bainbridge is filled with wine bars and trendy restaurants to try out.

Do you like wine tasting? I like wine tasting sooo much that I dedicated an entire section of my blog to boozy travel… See exhibit A, B, & C 🙂

Kerry Park in Grey’s Anatomy

Kerry Park is only a 15 minute drive outside of downtown Seattle and you get another priceless view of the Seattle skyline! A lot of scenes, especially from their newest, 15th season, is filmed here.

This park can get crowded, especially at sunset, but the park is long and narrow. You can easily get a photo without anyone in the background.

I loved this spot the most because not only do you get to see a famous Grey’s Anatomy filming location in Seattle, but you also get to see the best view of the Seattle skyline!

Grey’s Anatomy Intern House in Seattle

Meredith Grey’s “Intern House” where they continue to live throughout all the seasons, is located just a five minute walk from Kerry Park. Nestled in the Queen Anne Neighborhood at 303 W Comstock St, you can walk on the same door step as Meredith Grey, Alex Karev, Derek Shepherd, Izzie Stevens, Cristina Yang & George O’Malley!

Please make sure you are respectful of the house because it is private property. You can easily snap a couple of pictures from the street or bottom of the steps!

Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle

Recognize that helicopter pad!?

The famous helicopter / rooftop scenes are filmed on KOMO plaza at 140 4th Ave N. Would you believe this isn’t even a real hospital? Komo Plaza is a shopping center located directly next to the Space Needle.

If you plan on seeing the Space Needle on your trip to Seattle, pay attention on the short 14 second elevator ride to the top. During the glass elevator ride to the top, the employee escorting you up will point out the helicopter pad!

Even though you won’t be able to see the front of Grey Sloan Memorial in Seattle, the rooftop is spot on. Most of the scenes from inside the hospital are filmed in Los Angeles on set.. #rude

Best Time to Travel to Seattle

Since most of these sites are outside, I think it’s important to mention the best time to go to Seattle! While it’s known to rain like, 90% of the year…. that’s the charm of going! When I went, I had sunny weather on 2/3 of the days, and I actually wished it was gloomier! Just make sure you bring a little travel-sized umbrella to fit in your purse when you are exploring the city!

I traveled to Seattle in the fall (end of September) and it was magical! All the leaves were beginning to change colors and fall and the crowds were minimal. If you branch out of the city to see the coast, Olympic National Park or hike some waterfalls, I would plan to go in the summer when the weather is at its warmest.

Where to stay in Seattle

I would suggest staying at a hotel in Downtown Seattle if you don’t have a car and want to easily walk to all the sites. I ended up staying at the Residence Inn by Marriottthat was perfectly located downtown! It was a short 15 minute walk to Pikes Place Market and waterfront area. I highly recommend this hotel for their location, smart TV’s in every room, free breakfast AND… Black out shades! What a nice touch, well done MarriottGrey's Anatomy Seattle Tour - All the TV Scene Locations! (9) Click here to view pricing and availability.

If you want the full Grey’s Anatomy experience, you can book an Airbnb right in Meredith Grey’s neighborhood! If you search Kerry Park as the location, you will find a lot of houses and apartments you can stay at. Here’s an example!

What to Pack for Seattle

Other than my10 travel essentials I can’t live without, these are my top 3 recommendations for a trip to Seattle:

1.Travel size umbrella

It’s no secret that it rains a lot in Seattle! It is green for a reason! I bring a travel size umbrella on ALL my trips because it’s so small and fits in my over-the-shoulder purse if I need it. I got mine on amazon for extremely inexpensive and comes in a ton of different colors.Click here for the umbrella I bought!

2.Light Rain coat

It rains almost year round in Seattle, so regardless of the season you travel in, I would bring a light rain coat/wind breaker with you that you can easily throw over whatever outfit you’re in. I live in the desert where it NEVER rains, so I bought the least expensive one I could find.Click here for the rain coat I bought!

3.Rain boots

Rain boots are something I didn’t bring but regretted I didn’t. There is a lot of walking in any big city, especially if you are staying in the downtown area. You will want shoes that are waterproof and dry quickly.Click here for an affordable pair of rain boots!

I hope you had as much fun as I did exploring all the famous scenes I’ve watched over the past 15 years! Not only is this city an amazing place to wander around, a lot of these sites will be very close to other famous sites. I have a full guide on spending a three day weekend in Seattle that covers all of these spots and much more, you can read it here!
