Sargassum may seem to be in the way of your perfect vacation, but don’t despair, we’re here to tell you about some amazing clean beaches to still enjoy paradise.
Even if this algae may seem annoying and new, the Mexican Government has been constantly working with the business and academic world to stop/control sargassum. Although we know the causes of its origin, numerous studies are carried out to counteract its effects 🙏
Every day dozens of sargasso-ships embark on their mission of cleaning the sea, trying to stop the seaweed before it hits the coast. Many other people also work on the shores to keep them clean.
Work has been, and will continue to be, done 💪
Summing up, this seaweed has been around for a while and it’s time we make peace with it. There’s no need for it to ruin your vacation… so we specially prepared a list of sargassum-free beaches for you to enjoy paradise and make the most of your time here!
These are our top 5:
1) Isla Mujeres
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. It is located just across Cancun and is easily accesible by ferry. There are many fun activities that can be done here, from snorkeling and diving, to spending a day on a yacht or catamaran.
The island has a special charm and the water here is reeeeally calm and clear. Playa Norte is the favorite beach of the island, so don’t miss out on it!
2) Cozumel
Cozumel is another of our Caribbean gems;it’s a tropical island located just off the shore of Playa del Carmen.
If you visit it, make sure to have enough time to explore Cozumel’s colorful downtown and touristic area but MOST IMPORTANTLY don’t miss the opportunity to snorkel or dive in the second-largest coral reef in the world🐠
3) Isla Blanca
It’s Cancun’s best kept secret… and it’s also not an island 🙊 buta peninsula just a short drive out of the city. This amazing beach isnot that popular among tourists, so it’s usually more peaceful than other beaches in the area. It’s not surrounded by hotels, restaurants and beach clubs, just nature… the perfect place for family picnics 👨👩👧
The whiteness of the sandgives the beach its name and the water is, of course, the classic Caribbean turquoise color you always dream of.
4) El Cuyo
This underrated Yucatan treasure is an oasis of peace. The charming little fisher-town is super quiet and not crowded at all. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a place to fully enjoy nature and some quiet timefar from the cities craziness and parties.
The ocean water is extra enjoyable because it’s not deep; but be careful of currents, sometimes they can get strong. El Cuyo was initially popular among kite surfers who found here a great spot to practice 🏄
5) Holbox
If you’re looking for a bohemian laid-back island, Holbox is the place to go. Located in Yucatan, this island is famous for its bioluminescent plankton and its snorkeling with whale sharks and diving tours.
There are no cars in Holbox, only golf carts which give thestreets a magical touch. If you want to discover the whole island you can use a local taxi, rent a golf cart or abike. It’s recommended to explore every single corner of the island, you won’t regret it!
See? A beautiful vacation in paradise is still possible, don’t let sargassum get the best out of you 🙅🏻♂️!
Don’t forget that if you want some peace after visiting these breathtaking places and spending all day out in the sun, we can help by preparing you, and your loved ones, a private dinner.
