The Giant list of places to find free SVG files
Most with a Commercial License
When we started off hunting for free SVG files we weren’t necessarily looking for ones with a commercial license on them. But then we fell down the rabbit hole.
Whether you’re new to crafting with your Cricut or Silhouette or you’re a pro, you know that there’s no such thing as too many cut files.
And you know what’s even better?
Free SVG files.
The bonus to the commercial license is that you can use them to make products to sell – but be sure to read each license and understand its particular limitations. Each maker has their own set of rules and you need to abide by those.
We had a few favorites places for downloads on this list and now we’ve found some new ones to try.
You’re definitely going to want to bookmark this because you’re going to be referring to it to locate all these places again in the future.
So what exactly is an SVG file?
SVG stands for scalable vector graphic.
Which is just a fancy ending of a file that will work in your cutting machine.
But in the real world vector files are what logo’s and other advertising medium’s are saved into because they can easily be resized and used without losing quality of the image. But only if you have the right program to open and resize these images. These are mostly Adobe programs but there are others that will work.
And that includes the software that comes with your cutting machine.
But don’t be intimidated by those three letters. Most of the places that we’re having you visit include the files in different forms for you to use so let’s get going.
What kinds of free SVG files are there?
You’ll find lots of different cut files in a variety of styles. A few you’ll find are:
- Hand lettering sayings
- Seasonal cut files – florals, leaves and snowflakes
- Holiday cut files – Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter and more
- Basic Shapes – Circles, squares, hearts and diamonds and all the others
- Animals – Including unicorns and dinosaurs
- Gifting Files – gift tags and cards

What Software will Open a free SVG file?
Most of the current cutting software will open SVG files directly. Many of them have the ability to open an SVG when you import it, but with Silhouette you may need to upgrade to a paid program to be able to use SVG.
Don’t give up though, most of these sites offer the files in several formats so you’ll be able to find the one that works with your particular machine. There are also 3rd party programs that you can install to open and cut free SVG files.
If you’re not sure if an SVG will work for you, just download one and try it. Since it’s free to try it, you might as well give it a whirl.
Where to find free SVG files to use with your Cricut, Silhouette, Brother (or other cutting machine)
Click on the headings to be taken straight to each site’s free area. You’ll want to be sure to check out all the other available fun on their sites too though! Warning: this is a giant rabbit hole of fun designs so you might need to set a timer before you start!
craft bundles
CraftBundles has hundreds of free SVG cut files available to download including quotes and graphics – all of which come with their commercial license. They add new freebies each month, so you’ll want to keep checking back.
Printable Cuttable Creatables
The shop at Printable Cuttable Creatables features over 200 designs right now with new ones being added each week. The commercial license is not very expensive and is included with some designs.
Kristin draws all of her SVG files from scratch, with great attention to detail, layout, and quality (never tracing or using stock clipart). Her designs are thoughtfully made and easy to layer. She also includes print and cut projects.
LoveSVG
LoveSVG has an enormous collection of free SVG cut files. We aren’t even kidding because the last time we checked there were over 7000 free cut files. You’re going to want to have a cup of coffee with you when you start playing on this site.
While most of LoveSVG’s free files are for personal use only, their ‘flash freebie’, ‘surprise SVG’, and ‘free SVG bundle’ all come with a commercial license. They also offer a commercial license to purchase at a very reasonable price. And their files are available in numerous formats so they’ll work with just about any program and cutting machine you can find.
Poofy Cheeks
Poofy Cheeks has a nice collection of over 70 designs and ideas on how to use them. She offers a personal and small business license so if you’re planning to use these files for business be sure to clarify the commercial license.
There are several collections in her freebie section that feature numerous cut files and then there are single file downloads. They are also offered in different formats so that they’ll work on different cutting machines.
Cutting for Business
Cutting for Business features over 200 free cut files and they are all available for commercial use. You can’t beat that! The free page is divided by category which makes it easy to locate a file if you’re looking for a seasonal or particular cut file.
Caluya Design
Caluya Design has a great selection of free SVG cute files that are also available in other formats. The designs are all free for personal use and a commercial license can be purchased for $3.00.
They share free submissions from group members so if you’ve created a design to share it’s a great way to get exposure for it and also a fun group for ideas and inspiration.
Bird’s Cards
If you want to make greeting cards then this is the place for you. The designs are free to download and you can sell the finished design but not the file or a kit, be sure to read the license if you’re planning to use these cards other than giving them to a friend.
But prepare to be wow’ed. There are some amazing projects here!
Dreaming Tree
Dreaming Tree was started by a co-founder of SVGcuts.com and has some really amazing cut files for 3D projects. The greeting cards are amazing as are so many of the other offerings. Start off in the free section but you won’t be able to resist purchasing some designs.
Video tutorials and supply lists are included with each project. They also offer a commercial license so that you can sell the products that you create with their designs.
Simply Crafty SVG’s
Simply Crafty SVG’s has a large selection of 3D type projects. They have a collection of free downloads and a huge offering of paid projects. Each of their projects contains links to the supplies that they used to create it and a video to show you how to assemble the item. They offer unlimited personal use and a limited commercial license so be sure to read and understand the terms and conditions.
Even More Free SVG Files to Download
Remember when I said we were surprised at how many places we were able to find free SVG files? Well it was just as surprising to see how many of the shops and sites don’t exist anymore. We’ll try to keep this list updated since this information seems to change all the time. In the meantime, check out these spots!
SVG Silh
We don’t even know where to begin with this site. All of the elements are commercially licensed under creative commons and there are just so many to pick from. We are not even kidding when we say there are thousands to choose from. Thousands of images and icons.
Creative Fabrica
Creative Fabrica has a few pages of SVG cut files that are free and include their commercial license. They are offered on a limited basis and they have a subscription service of more than 15,000 designs to access. Their freebie shop includes fonts, designs and graphics so there’s no end to the fun you can have in here!
clker
All of the images on this site are part of the public domain or have been released under a creative commons license. This means that you can download these images and use them for free and without limitations.
svg cuts
SVGCuts has over 300 free SVG files available to download. There are lots of different designs across a range of categories, from Halloween pumpkins to hand-lettered messages. If you’d like to use these free SVG files for commercial purposes, you’ll need to fill out a form to be approved.
Kelly Lollar Designs
Here’s a page of fun SVG cut files that are free for commercial use.
Design Bundles
This site has SVG’s, mockups, icons, templates, backgrounds, textures and royalty free images, phew! Most of the designs come with the Commercial Use License but you’ll want to double check them depending on what you’re using them for!
Savana’s Design
A collection of free SVG files with limited commercial use.
Craftables
Craftables offers all kinds of vinyl for sale taht you can use with your cutting machine, but they’ve also got a pretty good selection of free SVG Files. Check out their free library and don’t miss their blog where you might also find some designs shared.
As you can see, there’s no shortage of free SVG files online!
