The Dartmouth academic calendar consists of four ten-week academic quarters per year: fall, winter, spring, and summer.
There are 15 academic quarters, or terms, between matriculation and graduation; most students will take classes during 12 terms to earn their degrees.
Dartmouth College Students must take classes on campus for the fall, winter, and spring quarters of their first year, for two of the three academic quarters of their final year, and for a summer quarter of their choice.

- Dartmouth Fall 2023 classes start on September 11, 2023. It is the first day of classes for 2023.
- The first week of the fall term schedule adjustment (add/drop) is from September 11, 2023 to September 17, 2023. Permission to add courses is not necessary unless normally required.
- September 13, 2023 is the deadline to complete check-in without a $50 late registration fee – check-in must be completed by 11:59 p.m.
