How do you make a good trifold? ›

Use the center to highlight your work.

The abstract/hypothesis and literature sections should be on the leftmost panel. Your work is highlighted in the procedure and materials sections that should be placed in the center panel. Your results and conclusion should be placed on the right panel to conclude the board.

Use glue sticks for attaching paper to your board. Double-sided tape is good for attaching photographs. when you attach it to your display board, especially if you use a glue stick. Matte paper is preferable to glossy because it won't show as much glare— glare makes your display board difficult to read.

A tri-fold brochure is a printed piece folded twice to create 6 panels—3 panels on the front and 3 on the back.

Understanding Tri-Folds

Panel 1 is usually the “cover page” that includes the title and a brief description of the topic of the brochure, panels 2-4 will have information that is all connected, panel 5 may have additional information about the topic, and panel 6 will have the call to action for the company or event.

A good project display board is one that is uncluttered, has easy-to-read and clear material, contains graphics that effectively explain your project, and colours that don't overwhelm the viewer. Search the web for example display boards to get an idea of what works well, and what doesn't.

How do I make my science fair board stand out? ›

Pick two or three colors and stick to them. Just like strategically using two or three fonts, sparing, strategic use of color unifies your display board and makes your board easier to understand. Figures are awesome. Use graphs, flow charts, diagrams, and pictures whenever possible.

Make it Easy to Understand – Use clear sub-titles and simple captions to make your point. Make it Attractive – Use photos, illustrations and 3-D objects to keep your display exciting and enticing to others. Use Your Imagination – Paints, markers, crayons and poster board will add impact to your display.

Glue sticks (use plenty) or rubber cement work well for attaching sheets of paper to your display board. Use double-sided tape for items like photographs that may not stick to glue. Add simple visual accents to your board. Do not make the board too busy or it becomes difficult to read.

It is easier and more logical for viewers to read from top to bottom and left to right than to have to scan across or zigzag across a page. Use either rubber cement or spray adhesive (especially designed for paper) to adhere text pages, title banners and other paper materials to the poster backing.

Tri-fold poster boards and adhesive will be provided to mount your display. The minimum recommended font size is 20 point. Titles and Headers should be double or triple this size.

The most common styles of brochures are letter-size paper with a half-fold and tri-fold. Each side of a tri-fold brochure is printed on standard letter size 8.5” x 11” paper, and after folding the paper three times, the brochure will measure 8.5” x 3.69”.
