Uh. Well. Of course it can (probably). That monitor is a lower resolution than the one in your parts list, so it should run a little better (probably). If you don’t run overwatch at 240fps or more without vsync then the 240hz won’t matter. It also won’t hurt your performance by having a higher refresh rate because that’s just how fast it can update and doesn’t require anything other than the grpahics card being able to put out the fps. That monitor shouldn’t hurt anything at all unless you’re trying to run both at the same time. In the end it probably isn’t worth it unless you already run the game near 240fps.
I may or may not know what I’m talking about. You’re welcome.
I looked at a benchmark chart for the 1070. At 1080p it maxes at 216fps and averaged at 203. Kind of close to 240. I guess it’s wprth it if your really want to juice out that extra fps.

Hello all,
I was wandering if my PC can handle a 240HZ monitor. I only play Overwatch and don't intend to switch games.
My Specs : https://pcpartpicker.com/b/V229TW
CPU currently at 4.5Ghz
Overwatch settings : Low
Will my PC handle this monitor ? : https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG258Q/
Thank you in advanced !
I was going to say 100% no. I then saw NVIDIA G-SYNC ensures smooth gameplay by eliminating screen tearing and stuttering. Because it is a G-Sync monitor the insanely high refresh rate doesn't matter so much. Normally the player wants the monitor's refresh rate to be as close to the game's FPS as possible. That means it would be best to have a consistent 240FPS so that your monitor receives the right frames when it needs them. The 1070 along with the 6700K isn't capable of that performance level. G-Sync is adaptive so it will handle the spread just fine.
Imo that's not a good pick for a monitor. For you it may be perfect. I would want to find a compromise. For one G-Sync enabled monitors are generally a LOT more expensive. Freesync monitors aren't so expensive. Nvidia's adaptive sync tech. is just expensive. The refresh rate is also off the charts for a normal hom*o sapien. I'd be looking at a 1440p 75Hz or MAYBE 1440p/120Hz monitor.
