Bentley's New Continental GT Supersports: A 657-HP, Rear-Drive Masterpiece
Bentley is bringing back the 'Super Sports' name, a legendary moniker from its early days. In 1925, the Super Sports was a groundbreaking model, capable of reaching 100 mph and dominating Le Mans. Now, a century later, Bentley unveils the modern-day equivalent: the Continental GT Supersports.
This new Supersports is a powerful, rear-wheel-drive sports car, based on the Continental GT. It boasts a 657-hp, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive. It's not a hybrid, making it lighter and more responsive.
The Supersports accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 192 mph. It's an impressive feat, considering its weight is just under 4,409 pounds, making it the lightest Continental GT ever.
Bentley's engineers have worked their magic, using a clever electronic limited-slip differential, widened rear track, and torque brake vectoring with rear-wheel steering. The suspension, traction control, and steering systems have been recalibrated for optimal performance.
The Supersports features a unique design with carbon fiber accents, including a bold front bumper with an integrated splitter and dive planes to reduce lift. The rear diffuser and one-piece fixed spoiler generate significant downforce, while 22-inch lightweight forged wheels further enhance its aggressive look.
Inside, the Supersports prioritizes driver engagement. It features two lightweight, bolstered buckets with a variety of interior combinations, including leather, Dinamica, and carbon fiber accents. The rear seats and rear audio system have been removed to reduce weight and enhance the driving experience.
Bentley's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, emphasizes the Supersports' significance: "It signifies a return to Bentley making more extreme cars, combining extraordinary ability with true driver engagement."
The Continental GT Supersports is a limited edition, with only 500 units planned globally. Orders open in March 2026, and production begins later that year. Pricing is yet to be revealed, but it's expected to be significantly higher than the base Continental GT.
