- Alright, let's get started. If you haven't watched my precursor course to this one, called Making 2D Presentation Materials and Mockups, I highly encourage you to do so. That course is great if you're a beginner. It teaches you how to work with your hands, and gives you a basic understanding of some of the materials it takes to put mock-ups together. This course is a little more advanced, but still just as fun. So you might be asking yourself, what is a 3D mock-up? Well, it's one of these. It's as close as you can get to the real printed piece during the design portion of your project. A mock-up in 3D is also essential to understanding and visualizing how your ideas will print. In addition, they help your client understand what the final product will look like. Now these are not final printed pieces, just a representation of the relative size, shape, design, and color. 3D mock-ups are a great tool to sell your ideas to your client. And just like making a presentation board, or a 2D mock-up, it's important that you make your 3D mock-up as clean and precise as possible. Now there are companies you can hire to create magnificent 3D mock-ups. But they will charge you hundreds of dollars to do so. And the finished product will look 99% like the real deal, but you're not here to learn how to do that. I am going to teach you the basic essentials of how to put together your own 3D mock-up for presentation purposes, and present like a pro. Once you understand the basics about putting together a 3D mock-up, you can begin to use more complex methods and tools you have at home to create the desired effect that you're looking for.
